MANHATTAN — Throngs of Occupy Wall Street protesters marched across the Brooklyn Bridge Sunday afternoon to mark six months since a violent clash with police there.

The gathering was a far cry from the fracas that erupted on Oct. 1, 2011 when more than 700 protesters were arrested on a variety of charges including blocking traffic and disorderly conduct.

Despite being evicted from their base at Zuccotti Park a month-and-a-half later and the movment's dwindling visibility since then, demonstrators say they are going nowhere fast.

"We're here April Fool's Day to let people know that we are not leaving anytime soon," said Ann Shirazi, 67, from Queens.

And protester Yoni Miller, 18, expressed his dismay at the NYPD's treatment of the movement since it began in September 2011.

"This is not April Fool's Day for us," he said. "The NYPD are the only people treating Occupy Wall Street like April Fool's Day — everyday."
