Marine "Regained Consciousness": Are We OK

According to the Guardian, "Scott Olsen, the Iraq war veteran who was seriously injured by a police projectile during a protest in Oakland, has regained consciousness but 'cannot talk'.

Olsen, 24, is communicating with friends and family at his bedside by writing notes, but his injury is believed to have damaged the speech centre of his brain, according to Keith Shannon, who served with Olsen in Iraq."

He is better - not OK, yet.  Our thoughts are with him, and we thank him for standing.

Marines, and all enlisted men and women take an oath when they join the U.S. Military. It never expires.

"I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Scott Olsen kept his Oath.
