The people paying the uniformed thugs (bribes and kickbacks, not the measly paychecks the taxpayers provide) want a violent conflict. All this "peaceful" protest does not fit their agenda. The students who stood there and did not respond with violence are heroes. The thugs doing the beating are desperate, they know their days of being paid homeland terrorists are numbered.

“Cops pushed forward, continuously jabbing me in the leg and stomach with the baton,” said Erick Uribe, a 22 year-old UC Berkeley senior, as he lifted up his shirt to show a bruise on his side. “I did see people being grabbed and pulled across the line,” Uribe added.
